Each year class representatives are selected from each of our 5th and 6th classes to make up our Student Council. This in itself is a learning process as interested candidates must canvass and make speeches to encourage their peers to vote for them in an election.
The aim of the Student Council is to represent the views of all pupils and assist in making decisions that impact the whole school community.
Our Student Council meets regularly and performs many important duties. They help out with lots of school activities e.g. Christmas concerts, quizzes and competitions. An important part of their role is to bring suggestions, opinions and ideas from their fellow students to the principal.
Serving on a Student Council provides valuable experience in leadership, communication, organising events, and working within a team. With these important skills we expect to see many of these pupils go on to have great careers in business and perhaps politics.
It has been a great privilege to be part of this group. I have enjoyed bringing students’ ideas and suggestions to the council meetings and seeing all the exciting proposals come to fruition. (former member of the Council)
